Schools issuing overview

Use this information to setup the issuing process for education records at your school.

The DfE education record app allows pupils to access their education information in a digital education record.

What is an education record?

The DfE creates an education record for every pupil using information previously provided by schools and awarding organisations (exam bodies). This includes:

  • pupil name, date of birth and address
  • schools they have attended
  • official qualifications like GCSE results
  • support needs

How the app will benefit pupils

Pupils can use the app to make application and enrolment at sixth form, college or a training provider quicker and easier. It allows them to share information digitally rather than on paper.

Your role

As a school, your role is to vouch for the identity of pupils so they can access their education record.

You will be able to do this online using issue education records (opens in new tab). The pupils will then be able to access their education record on their personal mobile phone.
